The Malawi Revenue Authority (MRA) says the new Integrated Tax Administration System (ITAS) will enable them to efficiently deliver services to their customers and easily follow tax payers.
MRA Head of Corporate Affairs Steven Kapoloma told YFM that the system is a graduation from heavy paperwork which slowed down their work.
“We will be able to work with less pressure and also have a clear picture of our customers’ accounts.”
Kapoloma also said the system is cost effective in the sense that it will save time and money for employers and traders because they will be accessing the site in the comfort of their places of operation.
He also said the body is not worried with internet problems in Malawi saying customers have over 14 days to process tax payment and for Value Added Tax 25 days are given.
The taxation workshops were conducted in Blantyre and Mzuzu from 7 to 13 January.
Meanwhile MRA says it has planned to hold the taxation workshops in other districts in February.
