Government says the fire accident at Malawi Telecommunications Limited (MTL) offices in Lilongwe has disrupted telecommunication services in the country.

Last night MTL offices which house broadcasting equipment for Television and radio stations in the country caught fire damaging equipment in the process.

Minister of Information Mark Botomani told YFM that he held a meeting with the Malawi Digital Broadcasting Network limited to discuss how the country moves from here and they will soon release a statement.

“This is a loss to government because expensive equipment has been lost in the fire and it will have a negative impact on telecommunication services in the country.”

The MDBNL has over 15 Television stations and 10 radio stations

Besides television stations,other network service providers have also been affected.
