Malawi Senior Men’s National Football team coach Meck Mwase has drafted three new faces into his 30-man squad which is expected to start non-residential training on Tuesday, 28 January 2020.
The new players are Nickson Mwase of Civil Sporting, Erci Kaonga of Mlatho Mponela and Mphatso Magaleta of Ntopwa FC.
The team will start the training in prepartion for back to back 2021 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Burkina Faso between 23rd March and 31st March 2020.
According to a statement from Football Association of Malawi (FAM), the programme will be held in the three regions for three weeks before the team goes into full time residential training in March.
The statement says, players in the Northern Region will be training at Mzuzu Stadium under Charles Kamanga while those in the Central Region will be working with Mwase’s assistant, Lovemore Fazili.
In the Southern Region, fitness trainer Bob Mpinganjira and goalkeeper trainer Swadick Sanudi will be working with the players at Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
The full squad is as follows: Goalkeepers – Brighton Munthali, Charles Thom, Rabson Chiyenda, Bonage Lweya and William Thole.
Defenders: Ted Sumani, Stanley Sanudi, Trevor Kalema, Peter Cholopi, Nickson Nyasulu, Nickson Mwase, Eric Kaonga, Precious Sambani, Gomezgani Chirwa and Lusekero Malema.
Midfielders: Mike Mkwate, Chimwemwe Idana, Rafick Namwela, Duncan Nyoni, Peter Banda, Lloyd Njaliwa, Mphatso Magaleta, Felix Zulu, Isaac Kaliati, Micium Mhone and Chimango Kaira.
Strikers: Hassan Kajoke, Foster Bitoni, Patrick Phiri and Vincent Nyangulu
