The second week of the Central Region FAM Under-15 Girls Football League saw New Version Private Secondary School emerge top of their group in Mvunguti Education Zone in Lilongwe.
Despite topping the table, New Version had a rude awakening following their 1-0 loss to Jamo Ptivate School on Saturday. Priscilla Bosco did the spadework by scoring the all-important goal for her side to claim first three points in the league.
This means that New Version and Jamo private secondary schools have three points each from two games played this far. However, the two sides are separated by goal difference, thereby making New Version leaders of the group.
In the other match, Dzenza beat Kabwabwa CDSS 2-0, courtesy of goals from Maines Kadongola and Thandi Gedion, respectively. Kabwabwa anchors the log table with no point from the two games played this far.
Chiwoko Education Zone has only one game played. Chilinde and Chiwoko CDSS drew 1-all. Other teams in the zone include Kamuzu Barracks and Kawale CDSS.
The league is being implemented by FAM on a pilot phase with an intention of rolling it out across the country in the near future.
Other stakeholders are the Ministry of Education under the umbrella of Malawi Schools Sports Association (MASSA).
