Government has assured the public of peace and safety as the country awaits the Constitutional Court ruling on the landmark presidential election case.
In a statement minister of Information, Civic Education and Communications Technology Mark Botomani said government is aware that the ruling will attract different reactions.
He however said state security organs are well prepared to keep order in the country.
Botomani is urging all political parties and other stakeholders to respect the rule of law and the Judiciary before and after the judgment.
“Sobriety and patriotism are key ingredients to peace during this period. We only have one Malawi and destruction of the country is counterproductive,” reads the statement in part.
Government is also urging Malawians to desist from posting fake news on social media which creates tension about the impending ruling.
