Teachers Union of Malawi (TUM) says government is still yet to pay December and January salaries to some teachers in Mangochi and some districts.
Speaking to YFM, TUM secretary general Charles Kumchenga said government has however assured them that the salaries will be given to the teachers any day from today.
“They are a number of districts which have not yet been payed their December and January salaries like Blantyre, Lilongwe and Kasungu just to mention a few,” he said.
Kumchenga further said government has requested all District Education Managers (DEM) in the said districts to compile all names of teachers who were left out and send to the account general for the finalization of the salaries.
“We have been discussing with the accountant general on the issues and we have been assured by the government that the payments will be done soon,” he said.
