Tobacco Commission (TC) says it is working on finalizing certification of tobacco transporters for this year’s marketing season.
Corporate Planning and Development Manager at TC, Hellings Nasoni, said they are in final phases of working on the permits for transporters who applied to be verified transporters.
“Currently we are consolidating those that applied and those that qualified to be official transporters, soon the commission will be publishing the names of those who have been certified,” said Nasoni.
He however went on to warn that those who have not been selected and choose to transport anyways will face the law.
Nasoni said: “The law is very clear that those that have not been licensed should not participate therefore the commission will be enforcing this law on those that are not licensed and they will face the consequences of the law.”
Registration for transporters to apply for licensing commenced in November 2019 and came to a close on February 20 this year.
