UTM National Executive Committee has resolved to form an electoral alliance with the Malawi Congress Party (MCP) ahead of the fresh May 2020 fresh presidential election.

The party made the announcement through a statement co-signed by Secretary General Patricia Kaliati and Publicity Secretary Dr Chidanti Malunga.

According to the statement, the signing ceremony of the alliance agreement will take place on March 19 in Lilongwe.

The party said its president and State Vice-President Dr Saulos Chilima has been tasked to finalise the issue of presidential candidate and his running mate.

The statement said the alliance has been formed in the spirit of uniting Malawians.

UTM and MCP were two petitioners in the landmark presidential election case which led to the annulment  of the May 21 presidential election by the Constitutional Court.
