Hockey Association of Malawi (HAM) has disclosed that the COVID-19 pandemic has affected construction works at National Hockey Stadium in Blantyre.
Speaking to YFM sports desk, HAM General Secretary, Dr Laneck Siwa, said the construction works will be delayed following the president’s directive to mind social distance.
He said procurement of some materials which is done abroad has also been hampered by the pandemic.
“The project is now delaying because the association in conjunction with the Malawi National Council of Sports we are trying to adhere to what the state president Peter Mutharika said,” Siwa explained.
Meanwhile various tournaments across the country have been postponed following the coronavirus pandemic.
