Renowned sports analysts, Higgar Mkandawire has described most of the contestants for the forthcoming Malawi Olympics Committee elections as greedy.
Notable contestants for the elections slated for the weekend are the Minister of Health Jappie Mhango who is eyeing for the presidency of the committee and he will go unopposed.
Other heavyweights include former Netball Association of Malawi president, Rose Chinunda, the current president, Khungekile Matiya and the general secretary Carol Bapu.
Mkandawire said much as everyone has the right to contest in the elections, most of the contestants already hold different positions that keep them busy.
“I understand they all have the right to compete but these people have some other engagements instead they should have left the position for others to compete,” he said.
“As for NAM it clearly shows that there is no coordination why can’t they just choose one person and support each other.”
Mkandawire said a move by such contestants will not do justice to MOC in as far as promoting the body and the sport is concerned.
