Employers are being urged to increase efforts against danger at the work place as Malawi faces a worrisome increase in covid-19 cases.
The plea to action has been made by the Malawi Congress of Trade Union MCTU.
Secretary General of MCTU, Dennis Kalekeni said this on the side-lines of the World Day for safety and health at work which falls on 28 April.
Kalekeni has also asked workers to report to the labour grouping should they feel unsafe at their work places.
“We should emphasise that all work places must be made free from any hazard or any danger of workers contracting the virus.
“This is also a good time to pull our socks and enhance safety of workers at all times,” he added.
The labour unionist has since commended government for coming up with guidelines that need to be followed by all places of work and asked that this new policy should be disseminated.
