Government has promoted all junior immigration officers after they threatened to stage a nationwide strike this week.
A memo dated May 13, 2020 signed by Director General for the Department of Immigration and Citizenship Services, Masauko Medi, says constables have been promoted to sergeants while those who were sergeants have risen to the rank of sub-inspectors.
“The Director General congratulate all constables and sergeants for being promoted from the post of constable (MIJ) to sergeant (grade K) and from sergeant grade (MI) to Sub Inspector (grade J) respectively,” reads the memo.
Medi says the promotions are effective Tuesday May 12, 2020.
