A 30 year-old man has died and another one has been left injured after a vehicle they were travelling in overturned and caught fire in Ntcheu on Wednesday.
Ntcheu Police Spokesperson, Hastings Chigalu, said the accident happened after the driver identified as Bright Mlewa, lost control of the vehicle just a kilometer before Tsangano Roadblock.
Chigalu said Mlewa was driving a South African vehicle with unknown registration number heading towards the direction of Dedza with a passenger onboard.
Upon arrival at Phuka village along Ntcheu-Dedza M1, Mlewa lost control of the vehicle which overturned and caught fire.
Following the incident, Mlewa, got trapped inside theĀ vehicle and got completely burnt.
On the other hand the passenger, Chisomo Katsekera, escaped with minor injuries and was treated as an outpatient at Ntcheu District Hospital where he was rushed to for medical attention.
The vehicle, and all the goods, loaded from the Republic of South Africa got burnt to ashes.
The remains of the late Mlewa, have so far been repatriated to his home village of Sabwera, Traditional Authority Makwangwala in Ntcheu.
