Zomba District Health Office (DHO) says they are engaging traditional leaders to increase the turn up of men to mobile Tuberculosis (TB) screening initiative in the district.
There have been concerns over the number of men willing to be tested for TB in the district since the introduction of the initiative in 2018.
Speaking to YFM, Zomba DHO spokesperson Arnold Mndalira said so far among 31,000 people who got tested, 181 have turned out positive.
“We are now engaging the men, for them to come in large numbers for the TB screening,” he said
Mndalira further said the office is also incorporating the screening initiative in their covid-19 pandemic sensitizations meetings.
“When we have gone to the chiefs about covid-19, we also bring in the issue of TB screening so as boost the turn up,” he said.
Mndalira also said the screening initiative is for a long term.
