Members of Parliament have been asked to deliberate on critical issues that are affecting the country`s progress during the 2020/2021 budget session.
Social analyst Lucky Mbewe told YFM in an interview that considering the social-economic implications of Covid-19, lawmakers must take the meeting as an opportune time to deliberate ways of rebuilding the economy.
“They should consider issues that are critical to Malawians in regards to the development of the nation by allocating substantial fund to areas that affect the masses for a better Malawi,” said Mbewe.
He asked the legislators to think through issues that affect children and the youth such as the closure of schools.
“I take due regard to appeal Members of Parliament to consider looking into issues affecting children, you know currently schools are closed and very few efforts are taking shape in terms of ensuring that children are learning online,” said Mbewe.
He also asked the legislators to have a productive discussion on issues pertaining to the forthcoming Fresh Presidential Election.
Parliament is expected to meet for the 2020/2021 Budget Session from Friday, June 5 this year.
