Citizens For Transformation (CFT) says there is still need for complete reforms at the Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC).
On Sunday President Peter Mutharika announced the appointment of new MEC Commissioners.
CFT Communications and Public Relations Strategist Negracious Justine said while some commissioners have left MEC there is need to clean up the election management system to ensure credibility of the coming election.
“We need it audited and all parties concerned must be satisfied that the results will be managed properly by the system,” suggested Justine.
He said the commission owes the nation all the duty to prove that the system is reliable by allowing all stakeholders to audit it before the election.
“In the conduct of this election, it is appropriate that the electoral body allows all its stakeholders to go through its election management system to ensure that there is such required transparency,” said Justine.
Meanwhile, all eyes are on Members of Parliament (MPs) to set a date at which the fresh presidential election will be conducted.
