The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) says it will carry out an Inspection of the Voters Register from Wednesday June 10 to Thursday June 11 this week.
According to media release signed by MEC`s Chief Elections Officer Sam Alfandika, all people who registered are advised to go to their respective centers where they registered to bear out their particulars.
“All registered voters are advised to go to centres where they registered to verify their details in the voters register for the Fresh Presidential Election,” said Alfandika.
He however highlighted that there will be no processing of transfers or replacement of Voter Certificates throughout the vote substantiation time.
“The Commission is also informing all stakeholders that there will be no processing of transfers or replacement of Voter Certificates during the vote verification period,” said Alfandika.
The Commission has also sent an appeal to all candidates and political party leaders that, during their campaign meetings, they should encourage their members to go for voter verification.
According to MEC, all registered voters should know that they will be allowed to vote without a certificate as long as their names are found in the voters’ register.
