A youth rights campaigner has outlined expectations from the Lazarus Chakwera led administration.
Speaking to YONECO FM online, the campaigner Chimwemwe Kaonga emphasized on the need for the new government to address unemployment challenges, and involvement of youth in decision making.
Kaonga has reminded the new government on various challenges that the youth in the country are facing and mentioned that it would be frustrating if their needs are not looked into.
“Government knows that young people in the country are facing numerous challenges including, limited business opportunities and lack of access to quality education among others.”
The youth rights campaigner also highlighted how young people have played a crucial role in driving change by among other things, going out to vote in large numbers.
“We are expecting the government to pump resources into the National Youth Council of Malawi (NYCOM) and increase budgetary allocation to the line ministry as well as deliberately develop youth centered programs.”
He also tipped government on the provision of modern farming equipment to promote mechanized farming and contribute towards the economy of the country.
