Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) on Tuesday handed over used materials from the June 23, 2020 fresh presidential election to the Parliament in Lilongwe.
MEC Chairperson Justice Dr. Chifundo Kachale said among others the materials include summary of results, record books and ballot papers.
The parliamentary and presidential act states that clerk of parliament should safely store used elections materials for 12 months after the elections.
During the handover ceremony, deputy clerk for the parliament, Chikondi Kachinjika said Parliament is committed to discharging their statutory duty devotedly.
Malawi Defense Force, Malawi police services, officials from the Malawi electoral commission and parliament were some of the members that were present monitoring the exercise.
