Former President Peter Mutharika’s security aide Norman Chisale has been re-arrested on assault charge barely minutes after being granted bail on other charges.
Chisale was arrested on Tuesday and charged by the court with fraud and money laundering.
On Friday morning, Lilongwe Senior Resident Magistrate Violet Chipawo granted the accused bail with conditions that he should pay K10 million cash bond and non-cash sureties amounting to K50 million.
He was also ordered to surrender his travel documents and appear at a police station on Tuesdays once every two weeks.
But Chisale was immediately re-arrested on attempted murder of a 35-year-old woman Sigele Kaipa.
Chisale shot the woman at Chimwankhunda Township in Blantyre in May this year as he was allegedly chasing suspected robbers.
Kaipa was later admitted at Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (QECH) for gun wounds.
Chisale’s lawyer, Chancy Gondwe has accused the state of playing hide and seek arguing that the shooting case was closed by the victim herself.
