The Ministry of Education says it is making positive strides in reviewing and developing training material for primary school head teachers and primary education advisors (PEAs).
Director of Basic Education in the Ministry of Education Steven Gossam Mafuta said they have managed to collect the relevant data from the pilot phase of the operation which was carried out in various districts of the country.
“The materials are almost ready and our colleagues from the MIE were pretesting the materials in some areas of Blantyre,” said Mafuta.
He added that at the moment the ministry is reviewing the information together with Malawi Institute of Education (MIE) to see which areas must be improved or need extra data.
“Currently we have got the material and we are trying to fine tune the materials,” said Mafuta.
After the material for the Headteachers and PEA syllabus is reviewed the department will look at the best ways of starting the practical trainings.
“Upon finetuning the materials, we are going to devise a way on how best the training can be started,” said Mafuta.
Revival of the school leadership and management materials was launched on 23 March 2020 and the main aim of the project is to enhance quality of education students in primary schools attain.
