A charitable organisation, My Community My Responsibility has appealed to young people in the country to play a critical role in assisting vulnerable people in their respective societies.Â
Founder and Director of the organisation Brian Khembo made the call in Lilongwe where his organisation donated assorted items to 50 elderly people in Mtandire.
In an interview, Brian said the donation is part of his organization’s initiative of reaching out to those in need following devastating impacts of COVID-19 that the country is currently experiencing.
“We need to be at home yes, but who is going to protect children on the streets, we have many elderly people who are in need and they need such a helping hand in the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak,” said Brian.
So far, the charity organisation has reached out to 500 vulnerable people in most outskirts of Lilongwe City which are Mtsiriza, Mtandire, Kauma, Area 24 and Kawale by means of using their own resources.
In Mtandire, the organisation donated masks, sanitizers, food items and blankets to the elderly.
Brian is also Global Goodwill Champion in Malawi who recently an award from Her Majesty The Queen as part of the Commonwealth`s Point of Light for his voluntarily services supporting the most vulnerable amid the pandemic.
