Nyasa Big Bullets General Secretary, Kelvin Moyo, has described the death of the country’s former goalkeeper Trust Lunda as a great loss in the country’s football history.
The former Dwasco (now Dwangwa United) and Big Bullets goalie, died at his home area in Nkhotakota district after a long battle with cancer.
Lunda also played for the Malawi national team.
Four years ago Lunda had his left leg amputated at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Lilongwe due to cancer.
Moyo said: “It’s a very sad development considering the commitment he rendered to Bullets as we can recall that he stayed put at the club during the time it lost sponsorship although most players abandoned the club.”
During the Bullets’ troubled times, after losing sponsorship, Lunda remained at the club alongside his fellow players including the late Douglas Chirambo, Sankhani Mkandawire and George Nyirenda.
After playing for Dwasco and Bullets Lunda went to South Africa searching for greener pasture.
