Zomba Central Hospital needs a lot of oxygen to assist patients with Covid-19 and other respiratory diseases.
Speaking to YONECO FM online, hospital director Dr. Martias Joshua said, in isolation wards patients with Covid-19 need oxygen because they face breathing difficulties.
Asides oxygen, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and ventilators are needed because currently only one ventilator is functioning.
“We have three ventilators at the hospital and only one is functioning so we need a good number of ventilators to assist us in fighting this disease.”
The hospital has been spending about K7 million to procure oxygen from Afrox.
“We have heard that the Queen Elizabeth Central Hospital (Q.E.C.H) now has an oxygen plant so we would like to ask if they can be supplying us with some oxygen.
