Zomba City Council in conjunction with National Initiative for Civic Education (NICE) Trust Zomba Office held a consultative meeting with stakeholders to give updates on preparations for upcoming market elections slated for August 7 to 8.
Key issues discussed in the meeting included a review of voting guidelines set by the city council, the setting of the dates for the market elections to take place and the criteria used to select legible candidates.
The market elections will allow people who operate within Zomba markets to choose office bearers who will help them carry out their business exploits and be able to represent them before the city’s authorities when matters arise concerning markets.
The meeting was held at the Zomba City Council Civil Offices and they also gave the stakeholders a chance to ask relevant questions and resolve any concerns over the market leadership elections.
