Youth Net and Counselling (YONECO) is sensitizing parents on the dangers of compelling their children who have fallen pregnant to abort.

The move comes following a surge in the number of teen pregnancies during the Covid-19 period.

Speaking to YFM YONECO district manager for Ntcheu Sewenthe Mahwayo said apart from the parents the girls who have fallen pregnant are also being counselled to ensure that they return to school after delivering their babies.

In Ntcheu and other districts of the country, teenage pregnancies have surged due to among other things lack of access to sexual and reproductive health (SRH) services.
