In support of the fight against COVID-19 pandemic, Save the Children has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for medical front-liners under Zomba District Health Office.
The donation is aimed at replenishing rural health centers’ PPEs stock and provide the necessary protection for the health care workers.
Speaking during the donation, Project Manager for Save the Children, Bruce Phiri, said the donation has been made in the spirit of equipping health facilities in the rural areas with protective materials.
“We are extending the donation to clinics, these are the lowest points of service delivery in health system hence the need for them to have PPE`s” Phiri said.
Phiri added that their aim is to see reduced figures of people being being with by coronavirus in Zomba district.
Director of health and social services in Zomba, Alexander Chijuwa, expressed gratitude saying the donation will assist health workers to protect themselves when treating patients at the facilities.
Through a project called Resilient Economic Development (RED), Save the Children donated items including gloves, aprons, face masks, hand sanitizers and buckets which are expected to be handed over to health centers in Traditional Authorities Chikowi and Mbiza.
