The fate of over 1,000 students from the Malawi Polytechnic, a constituent college of the University of Malawi (UNIMA), remains unclear as they are yet find funds for their tuition.
This follows an expiry of grace period given by the school’s management to sort out their balance amounting to over K250 million.
President for Polytechnic Student’s Union, Kunozga Kolowoka said the development has rendered them helpless despite writing the Higher Education Students Loans and Grants Board seeking for a bail out.
The students are said to have found themselves in this predicament because at one point they were given partial tuition fees to outsource the rest on their own.
Higher Education Students Loans and Grants Board is yet to respond on the matter.
