Parliament went on an early break on Wednesday afternoon following a heated debate over donation of condoms.
The move followed concerns from Members of Parliament (MPs) that news articles carried by some media houses that Parliament uses 10,000 condoms monthly are too sensational.
According to Deputy Speaker of Parliament Madalitso Kadzombo, the condoms at parliament are not for the 193 members of the house only but also for members of staff and other stakeholders.
Lawmakers including for Mulanje Bale Victor Musowa, Nkhotakota North Parliamentarian Henry Chimunthu Banda among others said the news articles have injured their characters.
Kadzombo ruled that Parliament secretariat should return the donated condoms to the organisation that donated them.
