Malawi Boxing Association (MABA) says it will take advantage of its executive meeting mid next week to discuss ways of procuring a professional boxing ring.
All along, the association has been faced with challenges of having modern boxing rings in the country.
According to MABA president Pyson Likagwa, the issue of the professional boxing ring has now got the support of government through Malawi National Council of Sports and sports minister Ulemu Nsungama.
“We have been lobbying for the modern boxing facility for quite some time. I am proud to have seen support from government.
“On the other hand, we also held a meeting with the sports minister who pledged to assist in the procurement of the boxing ring from well-wishers,” he said.
Likagwa said the executive meeting will also discuss other important issues such as the filling of the position of General Secretary which fell vacant last month following the stepping down of Elia Kamphinda Banda.
