The Senior Malawi National Football Team, the Flames, have arrived in Lusaka, Zambia ahead of their friendly match against the Chipolopolo on Wednesday.
According to Football Association of Malawi (FAM) director of media and competitions, Gomezgani Zakazaka, the Flames arrived on Monday afternoon on a chartered flight and proceeded to their hotel before having first training later on the day.
The match is one of the preparations for the back to back Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Burkina Faso in November this year. 7 foreign-based players joined with the locals with Modolva-based Charles Petro teaming up in Lusaka on Monday.
Flames head coach Meck Mwase has put his trust in the 21-man squad comprising goalkeepers Brighton Munthali, William Thole and Ernest Kakhobwe.
The defenders are Stanley Sanudi, Peter Cholopi, Precious Sambani, Nickson Nyasulu, Charles Petro and Denis Chembezi. The midfield has Chikoti Chirwa, Chimango Kaira, Micum Mhone, Chimwemwe Idana, Gerald Phiri Junior, Yamikani Chester, John Banda and Chawanangwa Kaonga. The frontline consists of Hassan Kajoke, Richard Mbulu, Gabadinho Mhango and Schumaker Kuwali.
The Flames are expected back in Malawi on Thursday before taking on Zimbabwe on Sunday in another friendly match at the Kamuzu Stadium in Blantyre.
