People Saving Girls at Risk has underscored the need to create deliberate opportunities for girls to succeed and voice out issues that affect them.
Executive Director for the organization Caleb Mng’ombo made the call on the sidelines of the International Day of the Girl Child which falls on 11 October annually.
Speaking to YONECO FM online, Mng’ombo said girls should be protected from harmful cultural practices and various forms of abuse that hinder them from realizing their dreams.
“As a country we do not need to condone behaviors that put girls at risk, it is critical that we give our girls a platform to express their fears and things that affect them,” Mng’ombo said.
Mng’ombo also told this website that this is an opportune time to create a generation of activists.
The day is being commemorated under the theme “My Voice Our Equal Future”.
