739 Malawians have returned back home from South Africa a process which has been facilitated by the Department of Disaster Management Affairs (DoDMA).
Speaking to YONECO FM online, DoDMA spokesperson Chipiliro Khamula said the people returned on October 15 via Mwanza border.
“The returnees include 120 under 5 children, 313 women and 426 men, and all these underwent health, security and immigration screening.”
Additionally, Khamula said all the returnees were provided with basic needs such as food and sanitary materials.
Initially, DoDMA had communicated that it was expecting a total of 314 Malawians to return to the country due to Covid 19.
To date DoDMA has facilitated the return of over 9000 returnees since April this year.
