Cases of mob justice continue to rise in the country as some people in Mangochi have killed an ex-convict for allegedly stealing various properties and cash amounting to K80,000.
The development comes a week after the country also witnessed two cases of mob justice, a development the minister of Homeland Security Richard Chimwendo Banda condemned.
Confirming the development to YFM, Deputy Spokesperson for Mangochi police Amina Daudi Tepani said the man identified as Mwaiwawo Kwitanda was heavily assaulted by an angry mob after he was caught red handed.
Following the news, the police rushed to the scene and took Kwitanda to Mangochi District Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Tepani said that postmortem results indicated that Kwitanda died due to difficulty in breathing.
She has since said the police have launched an investigation on the matter.
Mwaiwawo Kwitanda who has records of serving two jail terms and was recently pardoned, hailed from Saiti Kadzuwa village in Traditional Authority Mponda in Mangochi.
