Vice President Saulos Chilima has challenged Malawians to take responsibility of their actions towards bringing much needed change in the country.
Chilima said this on Friday evening in Lilongwe during a public lecture dubbed Mindset Change.
According to the Vice President, most Malawians are obsessed with trivia unlike discussing mind provoking issues that can turn the country`s fortunes.
“Mindset change is creating a new goal for every goal achieved and taking ownership for mistakes.
“With mindset change we can change our country from poverty to prosperity. Others have done it and we can also do it,” said the Vice President.
In his 1 hour 8 minutes public lecture, Chilima stressed that personal mindset change is a strong attribute to how that particular individual can influence others in different fields of endeavour.
According to Chilima, it is unfortunate to observe that most Malawians do not embrace change despite situations demanding them to do so.
“Mindset is to view one`s challenges as opportunities. If we can`t bring investors in Malawi because we don’t have electricity, we have opportunity to bring the electricity so we can bring investment,” said Chilima.
During the lecture, the audience had also an opportunity to comment and question the vice president on his address.
And on his part, President Lazarus Chakwera who was also in attendance of the event said change must be embraced by everyone not just politicians as most as perceived by most Malawians.
