A 30-year-old Congolese woman has been killed by his alleged lover over a house she was renting in.
Dowa Police spokesperson Gladson M’bumpha identified the deceased as Jane Shorga while the suspect is Gabilongo Muho Shukiru, 34, both from South Kivu Province.
M’bumpha said the incident occurred on November 2 2020 at Blantyre Location within Dzaleka Refugee Camp in Dowa District.
“It is alleged that the deceased and the suspect were in a love affair and the deceased is said to have rented one of the houses belonging to the suspect, being his lover,” he said.
“The deceased wanted to take over the house she was renting by writing an ownership letter as if it was written by the suspect handing over the house to the deceased.”
“This however did not go well with the suspect who thought intervention from the zone leaders who also told the suspect that they had seen the letter and its handover that the house belongs to the deceased.”
M’bumpha added that this promoted the suspect to become furious and went to confront the deceased.
“The two started quarreling whereby the suspect took a sharp knife and stabbed the deceased near the right collar bone,” he said.
“The deceased sustained a deep cut wound and lost a lot of blood.”
Postmortem conducted at Dzaleka Health Centre revealed that death was caused due to a deep cut wound near the collar bone and severe loss of blood, both internal and external injuries.
The suspect will appear before court soon to answer a charge of murder.
