Centre for Democracy and Economic Initiative (CDEDI) has slammed the Tonse-led administration for its indecisiveness on matters of public interest.
This follows a directive by President Lazarus Chakwera to the Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) to administer the Malawi School Certificate of Education (MSCE) examination by the end of January 2021 not March 9 2021 as earlier announced by the Minister of Education Agnes NyaLonje.
CDEDI’s Executive Director Sylvester Namiwa said this is a clear indication that officials from the ministry did not consult the president despite the importance of the issue at hand.
“This is why we always advise Tonse-led administration to desist from making hasty decisions on issues of national interest,” Namiwa said.
On president’s direction to fire Malawi Examinations Board (Maneb) top officials, Namiwa said the decision will violate rules of natural justice arguing the decision should be determined following an investigation.
