The Malawi Electoral Commission (MEC) has reminded candidates and stakeholders taking part in the Tuesday`s by-election that campaign period ends tomorrow Sunday 6 o`clock in the morning.
MEC`s Director of Media and Public relations Sangwani Mwafulirwa has told YFM that all parties in the election are not supposed to continue campaigning saying that the law will take its course to such candidates.
“No will be allowed to up and about after 6am on Sunday campaigning for a candidate that will be a violation for the law and if they are found appropriate remedies will be taken,” he said.
Mwafulirwa added that polling materials for the by-election will be dispatched to the voting stations on Sunday, November 8, 2020.
“On our part as MEC we are very ready that come Tuesday the by-election should take place that’s on Sunday,” he said.
“We will be distributing materials to the polling stations so we are encouraging candidates and political parties they send their monitors to the constituency or ward centers from which distribution to the Centers will be taking place.”
The electoral body has also appealed to all people in all areas where the election will be conducted to maintain peace and order during the whole electoral process.
The by-election is expected to take place in the following constituencies Karonga Central, Lilongwe North West, Mangochi West, Mangochi North East, Phalombe North and Makhwira Ward in Chikwawa.
