Presidential taskforce on Covid-19 says Malawi will have to make thorough analysis of Covid-19 vaccine before the country comes up with a clear position.
Co-chairperson of the taskforce Dr John Phuka told YFM that a proper analysis has to ascertain whether the country is ready to accept the vaccine.
Dr. Phuka also said there is need for a massive awareness and consultation on the vaccine so that people are aware of it.
Meanwhile, Dr Phuka has warned that the country could face a second wave of Covid-19 as being observed in other countries like South Africa, Zambia and Kenya.
The United Kingdom became the first western nation to authorize Pfizer/BioNTech’s Covid-19 vaccine last week, a landmark moment in the coronavirus pandemic that paves the way for the first doses to be rolled out across the country this week.
The UK has ordered 40 million doses of the vaccine – enough to vaccinate 20 million people.
