Malawi has become the first country in Africa to launch the rapid Covid-19 testing device.

The device which has been developed by Abbot, one of the world’s leading healthcare companies is able to provide results as early as 15 minutes after test.

Head of National Laboratory Services at the Ministry of Health Joseph Bitilinyu Bango told YFM that the devise will help to reduce the waiting period for confirmation of results which could take 24 hours or more.

He added that the ministry is working on scaling up access of the device to more Covid-19 testing centers across the country.
