The Zomba Senior Resident Magistrate Court has granted bail to Malawi Electoral Commission (Mec) Commissioner Linda Kunje and her official driver Jones Tewesa.
The two are being accused of obstructing President Lazarus Chakwera’s convoy in Zomba on Thursday last week.
The accused, who have both pleaded not guilty to the charge, have been released on a condition that they pay a bail bond in the sum of K100, 000 cash each and two non-cash sureties in the sum of K50, 000 each.
Commenting on the ruling, defence lawyer Chimwemwe Kalua said he is happy that justice has taken its course.
State prosecutor, Josephine Chigawa said they have respected the court’s ruling.
