The Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has called upon faith leaders to take a leading role in the fight against the raising cases of gender based violence in the country.
Rev Mathero Msatithe of Phalombe CCAP said this during a big walk from Phalombe to Blantyre, the church organised on Wednesday with the aim of raising awareness of gender-based violence (GBV).
“I call upon all faith leaders to speak against this vice so that this tendency of raping and defiling our children must stop,” he said.
Msatithe said there is need for religious leaders to start including the dangers of GBV in their sermons.
“This will help congregants facing GBV to come out and report to relevant authorities for perpetrators to face the law,” Msatithe said.
On his part one of the church members Suzgo Banda said for the vise to be put to an end there is need for love among communities.
“Let us not forget that God created a human in his image we need to show love among ourselves we are all human beings no need for us to be violating another person`s human right,” Banda said.
