Ten suspects who were arrested for various offences have escaped from a cell at Nsanje Police Station on Friday morning.

Nsanje Police Station Officer-In-Charge Seleman Mtambo said the suspects escaped through a ventilation window. 

Mtambo said they have launched a manhunt in order to re-arrest the suspects.

“We are already on man hunt to rearrests the suspects.

“When caught they will have to answer a case of escaping from police custody and later we will proceed with the other cases they were already answering,” he said.

Mtambo asked Nsanje residents not to panic because of the incident.

“Am assuring the communities not to panic, we will do our level best to re arrest the suspects back to cells,” he said. 

Mtambo also appealed to the communities to report to any police station whenever they come across suspicious individuals.
