Mzuzu University (MZUNI) says its operations will not be affected by the confirmed cases of COVID-19 that have been registered at the university.
MZUNI Registrar cum spokesperson Yonamu Ngwira confirmed that three active cases have been found at the institution contrary to social media rumours that the figure was 28.
Ngwira said, “We have registered three cases from 2 January to date including one death, and indeed there were rumors that there were at least 28 active cases at MZUNI which are not true.”
When asked if the presence of COVID would affect the schools operations Ngwira said that this would not affect the school’s operations since the people with COVID – 19 do not stay on campus and are currently in isolation.
“At the moment the main business of the University continues and the people who have contracted the virus are in self isolation,” said Ngwira
He has however assured the public that safety measures will be followed to ensure there no further spread of the virus.
