Young people feel betrayed by government’s delay in creating 1 million jobs for youths within a space of one year.
Speaking to Yoneco FM online, a youth rights campaigner Chimwemwe Kawonga said there is no clear direction seven months down the line, even on the K40 billion loans which the youths were promised during the campaign period.
“We are getting reports that government has only released K5 billion out of the K40 billion that was promised has been released from the said amount and young people haven’t started benefiting from the loans,” he said.
Kawonga said the youth feel used because the majority of them voted for the Tonse government.
“It’s a frustration and young people have been sold a dummy.”
He has therefore called on government to walk the talk and clearly strategize on how it will create the jobs.
