Two members of Parliament, John Chikalimba of Zomba Changalume Constituency and Jacqueline Chikuta of Ntchisi North Constituency have died.

Confirming the development, Parliament Spokesperson Ian Mwenye, said Chikalimba died on January 27, 2021 at Zomba Central Hospital while Chikuta died at Mtengowanthenga Hospital in Dowa.

“It is very unfortunate that we have lost honourable Chikalimba and honourable Chikuta. The office of the speaker and the entire August House is very much shocked and saddened by this development,” he said.

Although he did not disclose the cause of the deaths, Mwenye said details of the program for the funerals will be communicated soon.
