Over 30 primary school teachers in Machinga district have not received their December salaries after their names were skipped on the payroll.
Some of the affected teachers told YFM Online on Monday that they were advised by officials from the human resource office to officially lodge their complaints to the council.
“We were told that our names have been missed and that even the officials at the council, have no clue as to how the names went missing and they have since asked us to formally write them on the same,” they said.
The teachers have however expressed fears that the process of rectifying the anomaly may take too long.
Machinga District Council Publicist, Patrick Ndawala, said on Monday that they were some delays in finalising a head count of staff hence some teachers have been affected.
Ndawala said the matter will be sorted out while adding that officials from the ministry of Local Government are expected to visit the council on the matter.
The teachers have since threatened to take unspecified action if the issue is not resolved by Tuesday.
