The Ministry of Trade says it intends to establish an online platform where local companies and small and medium enterprises (SMEs) can showcase their products to potential customers.

Spokesperson for the Ministry, Mayeso Msokera, disclosed this while explaining government’s commitment to improving the Buy Malawian Strategy.

Msokera said that apart from the existing programs that are running, government has lined up other programs that will be implemented to ensure that the strategy boosts local businesses as intended.

“We are considering coming up with an electronic platform whereby our members will be able to showcase their products online and link them with consumers both locally and internationally,” said Msokera.

Apart from the platform the ministry also intends to continue giving advice to SMEs on compliance with standards by holding capacity building training exercises.
