The Malawi Stock Exchange (MSE) says it is hopeful that some companies will list on the stock market this year despite there being uncertainty of business due to the COVID – 19 Pandemic.
MSE Operations Manager Kelline Kanyangala says that restrictions on large gatherings will play a role in slowing down the listing process since it involving.
Kanyangala said: “the issue of listing is also impacted by the COVID – 19 Pandemic, because if you look at the entire process it is quite an involving process and with the restrictions especially on gatherings that can have an impact in how that is conducted.”
Despite this being a factor Kanyangala stated the MSE’s hope that companies will come on the market to raise additional capital.
“We are hopeful that companies will come to the exchange to raise additional capital,” said Kanyangala.
The Malawi Stock Exchange has conceded that with the current situation OF the COVID 19 pandemic going strong the is a lot of uncertainty about its operations.
