Farmers Union of Malawi (FUM) is expected to meet the new Chief Executive Officer for Agriculture Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC) to discuss whether the previous agreement they signed aimed at ensuring farmers access structured and profitable markets still stands.
FUM President Brighton Njolomole told YONECO FM online that, the earlier agreement was that ADMARC will be buying crops such as maize, cotton, legumes among other others.
“We have not really started benefiting from this agreement, this year we are expecting bumper maize harvests so we will see how it plays out.”
Asked whether they are also eyeing international markets, Njolomole said it will be up to government to make that move.
